Where to Stay in Prince Edward County
It used to be a sleepy island that came to life in beach season - my favourite time to visit Prince Edward County (or as we knew it "Picton") growing up.
Now The County is a favourite getaway for Torontonians, and with more and more people spending the weekend wine tasting, beaching and road-tripping around the island, finding a spot to spend the night has gotten trickier.
Over the past few years I've tried out a few great PEC boutique inns & Airbnbs. Here's a few of my favourites:
The Ferg
The Ferg is a rustic Airbnb in the heart of Picton. It's walking distance to the cute shops and cafes on the main street, but away from the main street so you can enjoy the quiet of a country escape. There's a couple of different units to choose from in this Airbnb - we picked the one bedroom that has a pull out couch if you have extra guests. There was a cute little porch that was perfect for enjoying some Pixie Sparkling Wine from Rose Hall run. And a big bonus: The Ferg is dog friendly, so we could bring along our dog!
Mr Anderson's House
This Airbnb is another Picton favourite. It's a quirky tribute to the movies of Wes Anderson - but even if you aren't familiar with his movies, you'll still appreciate all the vintage touches throughout the two bedroom house. We stayed here to celebrate a birthday, and check out Taste Community Grown. The house is just a five minute walk from the Crystal Palace, which means you can safely enjoy of wine at Taste without having to organize transportation.
Angeline's Inn
This boutique inn in Wellington is the perfect spot to stay for those who love the convenience of a hotel experience (there's a restaurant on site - meaning you can enjoy dinner or breakfast steps from your room) with all the local touches that make the County special. Each room is decorated with unique touches. A standout is the Babylon Cabin, a two-storey restored cabin with amazing sunset views.
The Manse Boutique Inn
The most traditional hotel option, The Manse is tucked away in Picton and has a pool onsite, which is perfect for a refreshing swim when you don't feel like taking on the crowds at Sandbanks. You can book massages here too!
With summer coming, there's a few new spots opening in PEC just in time for the busy season that I can't wait to check out - especially The June Motel - a roadside motel that's had a serious makeover. I'm counting down the days until I can book a girl's trip here.
Do you have any favourite PEC spots to stay?
