How does your garden grow

Spring is easily my favourite season of the year - so many gorgeous flowers blooming and everything turning green after the winter. Plus, knowing that summer is just around the corner is an amazing feeling!

When we bought a house in Toronto three years ago, a must for us was a nice backyard with lots of potential. Over the past few years we've done lots of planting, and now May is a beautiful time in our own backyard.

Here's a peek at some of my favourite blooms from this May.

Daffodil

These bright orange and white flowers were the perfect way to kick off the spring season.

Apple Blossom

This tree has been tucked away in the back corner of the yard, and this year surprised us with more blossoms than usual.

Tulip

I bought these bulbs last fall from Sheridan Nurseries. When they bloomed this spring they quickly became my new favourites. The colour is stunning, and they look a little like peonies (another favourite!)

Iris

this is one flower that has been overshadowed by other favourites in the past, but I really started to appreciate it this year. The light purple is beautiful, and they look picture perfect in a vase. Plus, they bloom just about the time sandal weather really kicks off.

Clematis

This was planted by the previous owner of our house, and keeps getting more impressive each year. The white flower looks gorgeous with spring greenery and is a nice simple addition to garden or as a cutting.
