Vacationing in Palm Springs

Vacationing in Palm Springs

These days most of my vacation planning happens on Instagram. It starts with one or two stunningly photographed posts of a new place, and then once it’s on my radar I find myself doing a deep dive into the geolocation to see if it really is as cool as those few photos made it look.

Palm Springs is made for Instagram, but is just as beautiful in real life. We spent a week in Palm Springs, and had the best time exploring the neighbourhoods, enjoying the food and taking day trips to the long list of cool spots nearby. Here are a few highlights:

The Saguaro Palm Springs

This “rainbow hotel” was what first caught my eye about Palm Springs. After doing a long search of all of the amazing hotels in the city we came back to this one as checking off all the boxes. The pool is gorgeous, the rooms are nice and the vibe is fantastic here.

The Ace Hotel

While we didn’t stay here (though it was high on the list) we did have an amazing brunch here. The food was delicious, and the date smoothie was one of the tastiest I’ve had.

That Instagram Famous House

#ThatPinkDoor is well worth checking out - not just for the photo, but for the whole neighbourhood of mid-century modern houses in the neighbourhood around it. The Saguaro had bikes available, so this was the perfect cycling destination.

Wednesday Night Dinner at Sparrow Lodge

The girls from Local Wanderer recommended this is a must for a Palm Springs visit - and it’s not hard to see why! Every Wednesday guests sit under the canopy of greenery in the Sparrow Lodge courtyard and enjoy a family style meal. Perfect setting, delicious food!

Day Trips

Palm Springs is a great base for short day trips during a stay. We checked out Joshua Tree National Park and drove up into the mountains to visit Idllwyld, both of which were the perfect dose of nature between pool swims.

We are already counting down the days until our next visit - so much more to see and do!
